Does the phrase, "Why does this always happen to me?" ring a bell to you at all?

Well, first of all, there are two sides to every coin. But in this case, there are many more than two sides to how to view things in life. You may have heard this old zen story about how "luck" happened to a farmer.

There is a Taoist story of an old farmer who had worked his crops for many years. One day his horse ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbours came to visit. "Such bad luck," they said sympathetically. "Maybe", the farmer replied.

The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it three other wild horses. "How wonderful," the neighbours exclaimed. "Maybe", replied the old man.

The following day, his son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was thrown, and broke his leg. The neighbours again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune. "Maybe", answered the farmer.

The day after, military officials came to the village to draft young men into the army. Seeing that the son's leg was broken, they passed him by. The neighbours congratulated the farmer on how well things had turned out. "Maybe", said the farmer.

When something is 'happening' to you that is undesirable, it's difficult to think positively and your emotions can overwhelm you. But it's important to understand that how you choose to think and act will play a crucial role in what happens next. In the case of the farmer, he understood that there is actually no such thing as 'good luck' or 'bad luck'. Sometimes things can happen that can be perceived as unfavourable, but then in hindsight, we know that it has actually helped us in some way. If you choose to see the negatives in all situations, then know that this is a choice you are making and that you're planting seeds that will result in more negativity. But choose to plant positive seeds and eventually a more favourable harvest will come.

From an energetic point of view, the repeated negative thoughts and emotions that are created in your mind will then attract more negativity and build up to become a constant worry or negative mindset. When this develops into a pattern, you are actually programming your mind to construct the worst-case scenarios for every event in your life. The first step is in understanding that you have a choice, even though at first, it may seem as though you don't.

In order to change the pattern of negativity, you need to remove the associated energies from your system. You may be inclined to talk about your problems, but be aware that this may only create more of the same unhelpful energies if not dealt with properly, especially if you don't have a way to flush away what you're bringing to the surface. Find something that can quiet down your mind, such as breathing techniques or relaxation exercises such as meditation or yoga. Many of these practices will help to temporarily slow down or even stop the thoughts from being generated.

The Meditation on Twin Hearts will not only achieve all of these things but will also systematically flush away the negative energies from your system. It has been scientifically proven to not only reduce stress and anxiety, but also improve cognitive brain function, amplify positive traits and emotions and give you feelings of peace and stillness (click here to read more).
